(for anyone else reading this, I did a shout out at the SXSW show for other lesbians and the reponse was the only quiet thing about the night–the audio from the ahow will be up soon).
How many kinds of geek lesbians are there? I’m gonna guess infinite. I can only answer for myself and the geek thread in me, along with my soul, likes to resist definition. I’ve not been so inclined to participate in “id-ing” as the queer scene here in SF has enjoyed. Self and identity are not the same thing (see my show Cookie for more on this. So I’m me first and everything else at the same time. Perhaps other geek lesians feel the same way, thus refusing to order the data that makes up the ethereal whole?
I am certain that the chunky footwear, dunky eyeglasse and spiked hair were absolutely lebian fashion first before they migrated to geeks.

There are lesbians at SXSW, and indeed they attend your shows. What’s so fascinating is this – why don’t they identify themselves?
So, here is my question for you fabulous queer girl, and you may have already covered this, but I don’t know it because I’m still playing catch up on my Heather Gold podcasts…
Are there really two kinds of geek lesbians? 1. Geek lesbians who are geek first, lesbian second and participate in this whole (predominantly west coast) social network frenzy versus 2. lesbian first, geek second, who are more likely to, say, attend a panel on microformats as opposed to “how to monetize your blog like pixelgirl”?
Regardless of your answer, if your geek and lesbian, you’re fine by me.
