Lawrence Lessig

Lawrence Lessig, the founder and CEO of the Creative Commons, is a Stanford Law Professor who also founded the school”s Center for Internet and Society.

Lawrence is known for his progressive views despite having clerked for conservative judges Richard Posner and Antonin Scalia.

The author of numerous books, including Free Culture, The Future of Ideas and Code and Other Laws of Cyberspace, Lawrence has written for Wired, Red Herring, and the Industry Standard.

His work on advocating for the reduction of legal restrictions surrounding copyright, trademark and new technologies has garnered him several honors, including the Free Software Foundation’s Freedom Award and being named a Top 50 Visionary by Scientific America.

In 2007, Lessig moved away from his work on copyright to fight political corruption.
